These content marketing trends make 2024 a year of content power

2024, a brand new year with new opportunities and challenges. A year in which, following the right trends, you can go strong with your content marketing plans. Our CEO and managing partner Michel Libens looks ahead and selected 4 trends that will help define 2024.

1. AI shifts to a supporting role

2023 was dominated by the AI hype. We all became budding prompt engineers and spent our time figuring out which AI tools to use.

2024 marks a shift in AI use. Indeed, you can still use AI as a tool to create content. But you as a marketer will continue to do the creative thinking. The use of AI tools can act as a way to extend that creative thinking, or to inspire or make suggestions across all the campaigns and channels you work on. You are still in control. AI acts as a collaborator in your content governance chain.

This is what you can use AI for:

  • Suggesting alternatives to your created content
  • Reusing content in other formats
  • Analyzing content from your competitors

The AI hype undoubtedly peaked last year. Even so, the human factor is winning from computers.

2. Interactive content for engagement and data

Nothing beats the feeling of being in control. With interactive content, you are sure to give your target audience that same feeling. Let your target audience click, swipe, vote, quiz, download, answer questions, etc. The more interaction, the better your audience can connect with you.

You can also make sure to put a reward behind an interaction (an interaction like: submitting an email address, answering a question or leaving a review) to get data. Think of a PDF with useful information or templates that your target audience can easily (re)use.

3. Short video: the algorithm key

We already told you in our trends article from last year. Short video is king! And it will remain so in 2024. Creating short videos remains a winner to reach a large target audience. The number of people you reach remains significantly larger than with an image. Here are 3 trends that will occur in 2024 when it comes to short videos:

Created on your smartphone

More and more video content can be created entirely from your smartphone. Tools like the all-in-one video editor Capcut have become indispensable to online content creators.

Sound off!

Whether you are on the train, in a call or at home with a sleeping baby. Many people watch short videos with the sound off. Capitalize on this by working with visual elements and short subtitles that come on screen and give the full explanation.

Live video

Showing your emotions live, answering questions or interacting with your target audience? That is what you do with live video. Scoring with authenticity is something you undoubtedly do live.

4. Strong, in-depth content.

A podcast, online event, webinar, white paper, or report. These are some forms of in-depth content formats that will continue to do well in 2024. It is another way for you to show your target audience what valuable, in-depth knowledge you have. Where short videos cater to short and quick communication, in-depth content provides more substantiated information. As research shows, this is certainly an extra advantage for your B2B customers.
